Ras Al Khaimah, honestly told.
Is RAK for you?
If Dubai is skyline, malls and superlatives, Ras Al Khaimah is the opposite case: the UAE's nature emirate. An hour north of Dubai, it trades the city for the Hajar Mountains and Jebel Jais — the highest peak in the country and home to the world's longest zipline — for sixty kilometres of quiet coastline, mangrove creeks and desert nights, and for a genuinely old Arabia of forts, pearling villages and fish souqs. Come for adventure, calm, heritage and value; come as a day trip from Dubai or a three-to-five day escape. If you want nightlife and mega-malls, stay south. If you want the other UAE, you're in the right place.
Independent, and not for sale
RAK Magazine takes no sponsored placements and no paid rankings. A hotel appears in a "best of" list because it genuinely earns it, never because it paid. We're an independent editorial project — not affiliated with the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, though we draw on their public data alongside many other sources. If we haven't verified something, we say so; if a place changes or closes, we update or retire the piece.
Researched, and continuously updated
This is the editorial hub of GoRAK, a content-intelligence engine built to track, research and narrate the emirate. Every guide begins with structured research — keyword data, the competitive landscape, and on-the-ground source verification — and is reviewed for accuracy before publishing. The engine monitors dozens of official and community sources around the clock, so when an operator launches, a resort opens or a trail is upgraded, the guide is refreshed. If something has changed since you read it, check the source link in the article or search for the latest version.
What we cover
Things to do (Jebel Jais, the Via Ferrata, desert safaris, kayaking the mangroves), beaches (Al Hamra to Al Marjan's calm lagoons), where to stay and where to eat, and the emirate's living heritage — the National Museum, Dhayah Fort and the pearling coast.
